Have you heard about the amazing benefits of EMDR?
Looking for a qualified EMDR therapist in the Kansas City area?
If you answered yes, you’re in the right place!
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidenced-based approach to therapy grounded in neuroscience and a highly effective trauma treatment. It is different than traditional talk therapy in that it incorporates how the body remembers the distressing experience along with negative beliefs/feelings. EMDR could be helpful for you if you’ve ever had the experience of knowing a negative belief about yourself is not true, but it still feels true.
This type of therapy is transformative for situations where a past belief or feeling continues to get in the way of how a person experiences life now. Sometimes, no matter how much a person wants to move forward, the past continues to come up and gets in the way of living the life you want.

“The past affects the present even without our being aware of it.”
— Dr. Francine Shapiro, Developer of EMDR
What can EMDR help with?
EMDR can be used to help people struggling with:
Complicated Grief
Upsetting Memories
Phobias
Nightmares
Depression
EMDR has been shown most helpful for those who have experienced a traumatic experience that occurred in adulthood.
If you have experienced ongoing childhood/attachment trauma, a more titrated approach such as Somatic Experiencing may be more helpful.
