The Books
Hey There! 👋🏻
therapist → author here…
After a 13+ year career as a somatic trauma therapist, I’m leaning into the next soul calling.
I’m accepting the next “assignment” in this lifetime, which means… sharing my writing. 😬
First up:
Publishing my first book - Can People Really Change?
Getting the Self-Trust Model into an easy to access book format (that doesn’t become a cheesy self-help book).
The real liberation of my heart… a memoir on indecision + motherhood. 🖤

You’ve said to yourself… “Someone, just tell me what to do!”
But do you actually want that?
Really?
Rather than instructing you on how to live your “best life” - this book will instead leave you with a deeper connection to yourself, your body, your inner child, and YOUR wisdom.
“I was captivated by Emily’s story and her raw humanity in this poignant and at times even poetic exploration of change. Though the content is deep and layered, Emily deconstructs therapy and presents it in such an accessible and fun way.”
In this compelling blend of professional insight and personal revelation, seasoned therapist Emily Sloan draws from over a decade of experience to explore the transformative power of therapy and the Philosophy of Self-Trust (the core of true self-development). Through 13 poignant lessons, Sloan challenges the notion of fixed personalities and offers a nuanced perspective on human growth and healing.
Emily guides readers through the intricate landscape of personal change. She shares vivid anecdotes from her practice, weaving them with her own journey of self-reflection and professional evolution. Emily explores universal truths and unique life experiences, revealing why prescriptive therapy often falls short and emphasizing the crucial role of intuition. She illuminates the possibilities that emerge when we connect with our inner wisdom.
Can People Really Change? is a book (and question) for:
Mental health therapists
People considering therapy
Those interested in deconstructing personal development
Anyone curious about the human capacity for change
Students of philosophy of the self
Emily’s warm and authentic voice makes complex psychological concepts accessible, offering readers practical wisdom they can apply to their own lives.

There’s a camp of women who have always known they’ve wanted to be moms.
More recently, there’s another group of vocal women, who are proudly child-free by choice. And have clarity about that decision.
For two decades, I did not belong on either side. But I wanted to. And the indecision almost wrecked me.
This book is for the women also living in the question. To be, or not to be… a mother.
I can’t wait to share the book title with you… The title alone, could become a movement. It’s part travel memoir + part soul-discovering journey.
