And when barriers to attending therapy arise such as weather conditions, scheduling, and child care; online counseling can be a great option used in conjunction with your in-person counseling sessions.

Tips for a virtual therapy session:
Find a private space, free from distractions.
Confirm you have a good wifi connection.
Close out tabs on your computer + plug directly into the router if possible.
Use headphones for more privacy.
Give yourself time to settle in for the appointment.
Make a cup of tea or have a glass of water nearby.
Have comfort objects available: blanket, pillow, grounding stones, pets, tissues, etc.
