5 “Habits” of Confident Women

Habits are what create who we are. And the kind of confidence that I work with people to cultivate, is a kind of confidence that isn’t contingent on the outside world.

This kind of confidence is a byproduct of more Self-Trust.

5 Habits of Confident Women Who Trust Themselves:

1. Be Intentional: Protect time for yourself to reflect on your past and set intentions for the future. I do this at least every 6 months. This helps you to anchor you back to your values and prioritize what’s most important.

2. Be Radically Honest with Yourself: When you’re honest with yourself, you build trust with yourself. When you’re honest about the stress you’re experiencing and how you’re handling it, it gives you the truthful starting place to know what needs to happen next.

  • Start by free writing for 5 minutes to this prompt: If I were really honest…

3. Keep Promises to Yourself: When you habitually follow through on your commitments, you have no choice but to trust yourself. And when you trust yourself more, you’re better able to manage stress.

  • Start my making a Reflective To-Do list.

    • Identify a specific goal you have. Then, write down everything you’ve already done to get you closer to the goal. Check them all off your list. Feel the dopamine hit. Let yourself celebrate the work you’ve already done.

4. Nervous System Regulation: When you have more capacity in your nervous system, you have more ability to effectively manage stress.

  • Start with the 5 basic areas of nervous system regulation and focus on adding in something in each category, everyday.

    • 5 areas: Fuel (food, water), Movement, Sunlight, Sleep, Connection

5. Get to Know Yourself: Self-awareness is a prerequisite to Self-Trust. Which means you trust yourself to effectively manage stress as it arises in your day.

  • Spend quality time with yourself. Decrease the external noise (phone, media, other people’s voices) and connect to yourself. Go on a walk in nature without your headphones, take yourself on a date, journal, etc.

What other habit would you add to this list?
